Sir John Soane Museum

Neil England was commissioned by the architects responsible for the 'Open Up The Soane' project, to allow the public greater access to the spaces.

To this he was asked to formulate a framework design, method and materials document to return the ornate plasterworks back to their original concept, based around drawings and watercolours made by students in the 19th century.

The submissions made were adopted and he was involved in both its introduction and enjoyed a rare hands-on opportunity to work and install the new plasterworks for the Tivoli and Shakespeare recesses. This can be viewed during a highly recommended visit to this wonderful museum and institution.

Sarah Mayfield the sculptress was a large part of its success and I felt honoured to work with her on this.
